HireLite

HireLite is a gamified, Tinder style job listing app for both employers and applicants. Meant to help applicants quickly apply, have an on-board AI agent tailor their resumes for the jobs they saved or swiped up on, and quickly set up appointments / messaging with the employer. It also streamlined employers workflow by allowing them to connect with the applicant directly as a result of their application.

What it did

HireLite allowed job seekers a gamified approach to job boards and applying to jobs. After setting up your account, which included listing your skills, desired sector, location, and other minor details, you would be shown several job listings in a Tinder-esque display. Swipe left to discard that job from your interest pile, swipe right to save that particular job, and swipe down to instantly apply. Instant apply sends an application to that job with a tailored resume instantly. In the saved tab, you can apply or remove jobs that you might have needed to think about. Our working demo operated on real persistent data. For employers, it streamlined setting up appointments and messaging / reviewing the candidates that had applied to avoid a lengthy job onboarding process.

My part

This was a submission for a hackathon project, where we were asked to use AI tools to create our project and then our project was also supposed to have an integrated AI agent somewhere. We used Replit to scaffold our idea and once it had finished processing the prompt we had given it (which was a lengthy PRD we had created), it was taking shape. From there I started implementing actual CRUD operations for all of our data points, connecting our frontend and backend, designing the database we were using, and deploying on Railway and Vercel, while my teammate started to solidify the design and flow of the UI and created the skill file of our AI resume-tailoring agent.

What's next: HireLite v2

After the hackathon ended, we decided to sunset the working demo. Since my AWS and MongoDB account were created using my school account, the school would stop giving me access to this at some point in the near future so we terminated the hosting and the databases.

Fortunately, I still have the codebase and I have already planned and started towards making it more of a personal job application tracker: showing when you applied, which resume you used, and your own data over time, with AI resume tailoring and S3 storage. Right now I have created a new PostgreSQL database instead of MongoDB for a stronger relational connection across data.
